,from some of my most special littles <3 Emma and Zackary Anderson.
Their mother, Mariko Kakiyama Anderson, was my mentor and favorite teacher in my last years of high school. My view of beauty has vastly changed through my interaction with the Japanese community and culture, and without Mariko’s role in my life I would have never been able to be presented with so many opportunities to be exposed to what has made me who I am today. As an artist, and and as a young lady, and what I believe will resound even in my later years. She paved the way for me desire of teaching and sharing, as well as encouraged me in all of my endeavors. She is another mother, sister, EVERYTHING for me. *gush gush gush*
So when she asked me to take some shots of her little’s costumes this year, I was excited for the fun that we would have! They are like another family to me, so it was pretty much us just playing in the forest (as you can tell…ahaha, best kind of shoots by far!). And also, not a far cry from our first family shoot together when they were much littler!
I have known Emma and Zack since before they were in the womb, ehe. I love these kids. And you can see why. They are hilarious, and full of so much energy. I look forward to watching them grow up and document the big moments in their life. No matter how far I move away, or where this job takes me, I hope to always be part of their lives! With such awesome parents, they are sure to be just as awesome 人間 (people) themselves!
