graduate: christine (part 2; firelight) [omaha, ne]

I don’t even know where to start to tell you about the powerhouse that is Christine. Going to do my best not to ramble on, but what I want you to know-you need to be keeping her on your radar, because she is going places.

I came in contact with Christine when I was first venturing to swim in photography business waters. Using many different types of listing websites, I ran into Christine’s ad for shooting seniors and portraits. I was intrigued as soon as I opened up her entry, it was unlike anything I had seen in the midwest photo scene. I found her page on Facebook, and our relationship began. It was so encouraging for both of us to find another artist locally that sees the world in a similar way. Her ethereal portraits hone in on the beautiful innocence of her subjects, along with a playfulness but thoughtful view on life. Those are the things I strive for when I create with my clients, and I see that in her work as well. However, the most mind-blowing aspect was how young she was! We entered then into a mentor like relationship, but I still always saw her as a friend and someone who fed into my own inspiration as well. We attempted to shoot together in the past, but as concepts come and go we were never able to early on. Yet, I was fortunate to get to work with her during one of my personal fine-art projects at work. Which I hope some day to showcase.

So naturally, as soon as she hit her senior year, I was excited at the opportunity to shoot with her and I was elated when she was just as excited as I was! Our day together was a long and fun one-she was such a trouper, and up for anything! My favorite kind of seniors. We pushed till we couldn’t anymore, creating till the very end! So this second section is that wind down time at the end of the day. Around the porch light, fire light and night lights of my parents turn of the century house and yard. I had been waiting to shoot with someone special at this dear place to me, and Christine was exactly the person I wanted to share it with!

Christine, for me has been a source of inspiration and encouragement. As well as a desire to encourage other artists around me.

All of that being said, you have to check out her work, so I am plugging her work again:

She is still trying to pin point what college she will continue her studies in, but has already received awards and scholarships from her desired places! Including the dear to my heart, Savannah College of Art and Design. I can’t wait to see where she decides to plant herself for nurtured blooming in the fine-art or commercial photography world! We are both planning on creating something one more time together before she heads out, but roles reversed. I am tingly with excitement!

Whatever you do, you will be amazing at Christine. You are my hero. I am so proud of you. Thank you for creating with me!
