This holiday week our CSA’s recipe highlight is perfect to bring as a side dish to your Fourth of July cookouts with it’s festive colors of red and white!
This week’s recipe comes from an amazing website I stumbled upon called Healthy Aperture. A health and wellness site that is both aesthetically pleasing and practical with it’s database of healthy DELICIOUS recipes and food ideas for body happy living! I am pretty sure this database is going to be one of my new go-to search fountains to provide great recipe ideas for our CSA members.
Crispy Baked Turnip Fries (w/ Sriracha Aioli)
1 small turnip
1 tsp olive oil
Generous pinch salt and pepper
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp greek yogurt
1 tbsp light mayo
1/2 – 1 tsp Sriracha, to taste
Heat oven to 400F. Peel turnip and cut into thin, rectangular fries. Toss in a bowl with olive oil, spices, and lay, single-layered on a baking sheet. Try not to crowd them as they won’t get as crispy if they’re piled on top of each other. Bake for 10 minutes, turn them over, bake for another 10-15 minutes until crispy on the outside and soft inside. Enjoy!
*I also saw another recipe that had suggested Nutmeg ground, 1 dash and Parmesan Cheese, grated, 4 tbsp! That sounds delightful as well! Hope these create fireworks in your mouth without making your tummy blo(at)w up!
